From Document Freedom Day
The "Software Liber Moldova/Free Software Moldova" initiative is an ad-hoc created group of FLOSS fans and to be activists from Moldova. The group emerged over the online communication of the people involved. Once again proving that FLOSS fans are looking for new ways of expression and exploration of the popular tools.
First ermergence of the group activity was the creation of a FaceBook group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=app_2344061033&ref=ts&gid=105349886163125#!/group.php?v=wall&ref=ts&gid=105349886163125 as a place where the FLOSS fans from Moldova can talk, share links, ideas and plan future actions. The next step was the planning and the coordination of an action - which wasn't difficult to choose - Document Freedom Day from 31 March 2010 - thus an FaceBook event was created http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=112407238774335&index=1 with an open approach - everyone was invited to join and contribute to the action. The news about the action was also spread along the linux communities in Moldova and at present moment there is a joint action of various people to take place on the Document Freedom Day.
Document Freedom Day in Moldova

The reason is that the FLOSS ideas are little known to Moldovan public, thus the open standards being less promoted comparative with other proprietary standards. And the student community represents the best starting point, and should be the main target for that, due to its mobility and future oriented motivation.
