I am the coordinator of the C3LD (Centre Linux et Logiciels Libres pour le Développement) project for Vietnam, funded by the AUF (Agence universitaire de la Francophonie) through the CNF (Campus numérique francophone) center of Hanoi (see C3LD's website at http://hanoi.centre-linux.org). I am also member of the Hanoi Linux user group (http://www.hanoilug.org/). We have joined the Software Freedom Day action since the first one in 2004 and organized all yearly events until now. We are also active in promotion the use of OpenOffice.org and of Free softwares (thus of free and open formats) in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi.
Actions done for DFD 2010
We have set-up a public booth on Wednesday 31st march, from 9h00 am to 4:30 pm at the entrance of the IFI Institute in the Polytechnic university (Le Thanh Nghi street). Posters about ODF, open formats and free softwares have been displayed with a demo of different Ubuntu versions (9.04, 9.10 and 10.04 beta1) running on laptops. Home-made CDs of OpenOffice.org 3.2 (English and Vietnamese versions for Windows) have been distributed as well as Ubuntu 9.10 live CDs.
An ODF text document formatting contest, with a few USB keys to win, has been launched from 22nd to 29th March. The first 3 prizes are one 8 GB and two 4 GB USB keys that are sponsored by eXo Platform. Details for this contest in Vietnamese are here : http://hanoi.centre-linux.org/article.php3?id_article=116
Chúng tôi sẽ tổ chức một Gian trưng bày giới thiệu DFD 2010, Thứ tư 31/3/2010, từ 9h30 đến 16h30 tại Viên Tin học Pháp ngữ (IFI), Nhà D, lối vào phía đường Lê Thanh Nghị, gần gốc đường Tạ Quang Bửu.
- Trình chiếu thông tin về tài liệu định dạng mở (ODF) và phần mềm OpenOffice.org
- Phát tặng CD, chép phần mềm và phim hoạt hình "Big Buck Bunny"
- Giới thiệu và cho sử dụng thử các phần mềm nguồn mở
- Cuộc thi định dạng văn bản ODT có giải thưởng từ 22 đến hết ngày 29 tháng 03/2010 (xem http://hanoi.centre-linux.org/article.php3?id_article=116)

A meeting has been held on March 25th, 14h30 - 16h30, with several speechs presenting open document formats (ODF, LaTeX, BibTeX). Free software CDs have been distributed. A report (in Vietnamese) and photos of the event can be seen here.
Actions done for DFD 2008
The Faculty of Information technology of the University of Transport and Communication will organize a Free and open source software (FOSS) event on Saturday 29th March where about 300 students are expected to gather.

Free software CDs, Ubuntu 7.04 customized for Vietnam and TheOpenCD Vietnamese version by Hanoilug, will be distributed. One speech will emphasize the importance of open document formats and free softwares at the occasion of the 26th march's DFD 2008.
